Dear Friends of Southwestern:

I am very proud and happy to serve as the Superintendent of Southwestern Consolidated Schools where there is a long tradition of excellence in serving children and the community. At Southwestern, we emphasize excellence because we truly believe in providing every child with opportunities for success. We are a small school district with an outstanding staff of teachers and support staff. The major advantage of our size is the fact that we can get to know our students so much better. This enables us to provide them with opportunities for success and resources for facing their challenges which they would not have in many other schools

One of the major initiatives I have stressed to teachers is the importance of teacher-parent partnerships to find maximum success in every child. I have strongly encouraged all of our teachers to communicate with parents when a child is the least bit challenged in class. I have then urged teachers to collaborate with parents to determine solutions. Our students and their parents are our “customers” and I have committed our teachers and support staff to providing exemplary “customer service.” Parents, likewise, should not hesitate to get in touch with teachers for any reason.

Our strongest desire is to provide each child with the skills and resources to be successful in school and in the world they face after graduation. We are determined to prepare them for any dream they may have. We realize that our children today face global competition in whatever field they pursue and we must groom them to face the world. We have a great many accomplished and successful alumni and I am committed to continuing that tradition.

Finally, we will continue working hard to assure that there is adequate funding for education. Every generation deserves the opportunity to be the best it can be and with adequate funding, our schools will continue to meet the high expectations of this community.
